Antiracist Action: Against Tea Party Antics in Minnesota

Below is a link to a piece from Racismreview.com, an anti-racist website run by my friends and colleagues, Drs. Joe R. Feagin and Jessie Daniels.  The story is about anti-racists who lampoon white nativists at a Tea Party rally.  Enjoy...

You can at least make the argument that illegal immigration volume and violent crime have been linked in several states.

Should it be easier to become a citizen of the US? Sure. But shouldn't people follow the laws to begin with?

  2. Hey David...and fellow readers,

Honestly, time restrictions won't allow me to do a point by point response to the article you cite above. I have noticed, though, that other readers claim that many links are either to non-academic/government cites or are dead links. I didn't track them, so I don't know for sure.

More to the point, the article you provided does not respond to the point of the rally in my post. The counter-protestors are pointing out that whites have no standing to even discuss illegal immigration. All whites are illegal immigrants.

So the most direct response to your comments is that all white American crime is crime by "illegal aliens." The timing of when the illegal immigration occured is immaterial, especially since Native Americans continue to press for sovereignty and, in some instances, return of their land.

Consequently, you would be better off simply siting all the crime statistics in the United States, subtracting the miniscule amount done by Natives and attributing it all to "illegal aliens." Even the crimes not committed by whites are attributable to whites since most Blacks and many Asian-Americans and Latinos are only in the United States because of various criminal acts (slavery, wars of aggression, economic imperialism) by whites which forced us to be here.

  3. I really like that article. That was a quite impressive method of protest.

However, I have to contend the notion that all whites are "illegal immigrants".

The term "illegal" implies that a law was broken. What immigration law did Europeans break when they settled in America? To my knowledge, Native Americans didn't have any laws that prevented foreigners from settling here--especially since there were a multitude of tribes here; none of which had ultimate authority over all the land. Furthermore, the tribes that were in power had simply defeated their predecessors and kicked them out (just like we eventually did to them).

If you're trying to equate conquering land to "illegal immigration", I don't think that's the same thing. Europeans didn't "immigrate" with the idea of subverting another country's government in order to gain from it's system while shirking the responsibilities that go with it. (THAT's the issue at hand when opposing illegal immigration). They came to start a new nation. Again, that was conquering. The U.S.A. would not exist had we not conquered this land.

So, again, I ask what law did whites break by coming here? Secondly, why is it hypocritical to ask illegal immigrants to follow the law? (keyword: illegal) I have no problem with legal immigrants (some of my own lineage are legal immigrants). I just think if you want to live here, you need to wait in the same line everyone else does, and carry the same responsibilities that all legal citizens must carry. Or, the other option is to conquer us outright (like we did the Indians), and then the "illegals" can start any kind of system they want (just like we did).

Slavery is an entirely different story. Enslaving humans is always morally wrong. But nation conquering nation? That's been "fair game" since the dawn of human civilization.
